Rural Heritage

Rural life is a central part of the Clonturkle experience. Clonturkle has a rich and unique rural heritage that includes rural self-sufficiency, timber getting and market gardening. Learning about and experiencing this heritage is a central part of connecting with the land.

Heritage farm animals traditionally developed for cool climates and small holdings such as Suffolk sheep and Belted Galloway cattle are bred at Clonturkle. Working Clydesdale draught horses are also planned.

Clonturkle is now being developed as an organic and self-sufficient eco-retreat. The long term goal is make this aspect educational and a hands-on part of the experience.
