Yetholme

You can take short scenic walks or drives around the Yetholme village area, with its mix of forest, market gardens and small holdings. You could also take a return trip to Sunny Corner village via Meadow Flat and Kirkconnell.

You could take a drive down Eusdale Road through Diamond Swamp Creek gorge to the little railway village of Tarana.   Here you can have lunch in the beer garden under the shadow of Mount Tarana.

From Tarana you can take a walk up Evans Crown Reserve. Evans Crown is a granite outcrop with panoramic and meditative views of the Fish valley and the high plain escarpments. The crown was a Wiradjuri ceremonial place and part of the dreaming track that leads toward Clonturkle.

From Tarana you have a choice of three return trips to Clonturkle. The first is the via original road of the first settlers to the village of O'connell and its historic pub. This trip will also take you passed flat rock picnic ground, a favourite swimming hole for locals on the Fish River.

The second option is via a magical little road that follows the railway line through four more historic railway villages, weaving between the meandering Fish River and its River Oak forest and the forested ridges descending from the high plain.

The third return option is to follow the pioneers road east through the villages of Sodwals and Rydal to Mt Lambie.
